Starting off the new year (or new decade) in the high country was epic.  the air was fresh, the mountains were humbling, and the energy was strong.  the recharge was awakening.  here we are, sitting pretty and ready to move forward.

As another year comes to a close. I find myself setting here reminiscing about the events of a wild year.  A new President, animal flu’s and vaccines, the king of pop dies, a kid fakes a balloon ride, and the great recession plus poor old Tiger “Don’t hate the player hate the game.” For Gabe and myself a long time dream became a reality when Rukus Texas was born on February 1 of 09. What a year its been with contest, parties, art shows and just straight up good times. 2009 also brought us new skate parks in San Antonio, Lochart and New Braunfuls. Big thanks to the cities and families that made it all happen. Remember in the year to come to respect our parks we are lucky to have them.  Man, 2009 what a year ups and downs we had it all. However one thing remanded consistent SKATEBOARDING.  So as you party tonight remember to give some love and make a toast to what brought us here in the first place. Skateboarding is forever. Peace 09.

I would start with Cardiel's Epicly Later'd episode on vbs.tv. Then move on to any of his video parts. High ollie contest on sunday went off. Tensions ran high with the smell of victory in the air and victory on this day smelt like donuts. There could only be one winner in this battle of the vertical jumps. That man was Jacob "the stereotype crusher" Martin.  Proving white man can jump. 

Im not going to glorify it.  They were there.  They hung, they skated, and they left.  Thats it, thats all.  No more, no less.  What do you want from me???

Team RUKUS rider Tatsuya Hayashi wins the 6th annual Jonathan Broderick memorial contest at the San Marcos skatepark on Sat Nov. 14th.  RUKUS holdin it down.  Congrats "Tats".  Keep up the good work.  

The City of New Braunfels, Tx hosted the annual skate jam at the new JAWS skatepark.  RUKUS was there to help out and run the skate competition.  Great turn out, and tons of fun for all the kids.  Congrats to all the winners.  The contest was free to enter and the prizes were all donated by local businesses.  We were glad to be a part of it, and hope to do it up again next year.  More contests and events coming soon from RUKUS.  Look here on rukustx.com for info.
